Re-evaluate Your Shoes

Earthing and you

We are electrical creatures. Energy flows through us into everything that we touch – and vice versa. This includes the energy to and from the earth where we get our food, water, and shelter.

Researchers have discovered that our dependence on Mother Earth is so strong, that we need her energy too.

Go Barefoot

Our shoes, those with rubber soles, cut us off from the earth’s energy. Now that we know this, it’s time we started going barefoot in the park, in our back yards, and on the beach. In fact, the best and most healing place on earth is where the water meets the sand.

Earthing “grounds” us.

Why Earthing?

In Claire De Boursac 2019 article, In The Power of Earthing, she explains that:

“In modern life we are being bombarded with electrical charges all day.  This creates a build-up of excess free radicals, which can cause damage to our cells…When we are earthed, the electrons move freely between the earth and our body discharging these rogue free radicals.”

Clint Ober started the earthing movement. He himself was skeptical at first due to its simplicity. His 2014 book Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever! Introduces us to the healing properties of earthing. This practice has been known to heal chronic illnesses, slow down the aging process, and stop inflammation.

Get Informed

More information can be found on their website Earthing.com. If you or your loved one do not have access to going barefoot in nature, they have products for sale with ecotherapy technology. This technology grounds you. These products would be good gifts for people in the hospital, a rehabilitation center, or a care home.

Watch the Movie

The free documentary, The Earthing Movie: The Remarkable Science of Grounding (full documentary), offers the history of the movement and why it’s important to our health and wellbeing. It also includes background on Indigenous people’s belief about the importance of your skin connecting to the earth. I recommend you watch the move.

Reevaluate your shoes

Take your shoes off while outside. Walk barefoot wherever you can.

I started wearing Barefoot Shoes and they have become my shoe of choice. You can find out more at https://www.somfootwear.com/blogs/news/why-barefoot-minimalist-shoes.

Stay healthy,
