Hello everyone! As we come to the end of 2024, I wanted to remind all of us of the importance of listening to our heart. We are living in very uncertain times and, as the authors of the book below remind us, we are all connected to the earth and each other. This is a blog that I wrote in 2019 and I am repeating it this month because I feel it is really pertinent in today’s world. It… Read more »

Do Plants Communicate?
Blog Post November 2024 Hi Everyone, It is amazing that it is already the end of November. Time is moving by very quickly for me right now. The weather has been so mild, I have been working on our garden right up to last week! And, I finally planted my garlic! Last month I showed you a picture of our blooming hibiscus. This month, we have an amazing amaryllis. Do you eat pumpkin seeds? Last month, I came across… Read more »

The Importance of Trees
October 2024 Blog I hope you have been enjoying the wonderful October weather and the spectacular display that the trees have created. It has been absolutely marvelous here in Toronto. And, talking of spectacular displays – my hibiscus plant loved coming indoors for the winter. It mostly only has one or two flowers at a time! The Importance of Trees This month I am again going to talk about trees. I know that you know they are dear to me.… Read more »

Mushrooms for Therapy September Blog 2024 Hello Everyone, I am writing this on my back deck on a wonderful, warm and sunny day. I really love this weather and hope it continues on and on. This month, I have been reading “How to Change your Mind; what the new science of psychedelics is teaching us about consciousness, dying, addiction, depression and transcendence” by Michael Pollan. In the book Pollan discusses psilocybin mushrooms, the history of their use in the 1950’s… Read more »

Sites to get Good News
Good News Awakening Recently, a friend sent me to another place where I can find Good News. It is called Fix the News. I appreciate this site. I don’t listen to the regular news because it is too negative. (Remember the news motto is “if it bleeds, it leads!”) As a Reminder, here are the other Good News sites I have shared before, along with Fix the News. The Good News Network | https://goodnewsnetwork.org/why-good-news/ Greater Good Science Center | https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/… Read more »

Living in a Harmonious World
Last December, John and I enjoyed a mini holiday in Quebec City. It’s an absolutely beautiful town. While there, we decided to explore the Museum of Civilization and saw two fascinating exhibits. One is concerned with ecology and the environment, and the other with Hip Hop music. I learned a tremendous amount from both, but the one I want to explore this month is the one on ecology – Our Time on Earth. The Barbican, an arts, learning, and conference… Read more »

My tree that I did not see
Nature & Kindness Dear Readers, I hope this message finds you well and surrounded by the beauty of nature. As I settle into our new home, I’ve been fascinated by a magnificent Blue Spruce in our front yard that stands tall, embracing the essence of the great outdoors. Interestingly, our initial visits didn’t reveal its presence. I can’t help but feel that this tree, in its wisdom, guided us to this place without my husband or me seeing it. The… Read more »

The 3-phases of Transition continue.
Welcome to December! This year is closing out with a bang! You can only guess what I’ve been up to from my November newsletter these past weeks. The three phases of transitioning – beginning, neutral, and ending — continue to influence me to relax more, knowing it’s all a process. This month, I planned to introduce many of you to Brian Swimme. The way he thinks — I find fascinating. In his autobiography Cosmogenesis, he remembers things from his past… Read more »
